Change in Japanese Consulate in San Francisco

Consul General Nagamine has finished his three year assignment in the US in July. He has written a nice letter that about his time there.
You can read his letter by clicking here.

Consul General Nagamine’s policies regarding Sister City relationships were very supportive and his policies flowed through all of the staff consuls. He left the US in early August, I believe a new Consul General has not yet arrived.

2010 America-Japan Grassroots Summit

More than 30 persons had homestays in Silicon Valley. Kudos to Debi Davis, Yuki Izeki and other for organizing the South Bay part of the program. And of course the same to the many volunteers that it took to bring about this success.

250 Japanese came to the US to participate in this Bay Area wide project. There was a really nice barbecue at Santa Clara Central Park which featured food, music and Japanese dance. The closing ceremonies were held in San Francisco, ending in a wonderful Odori (street dance) on Post Street.

Next year’s program will be in Kochi, Japan, 6/28-7/04/2011. Kochi is on Shikoku Island, not so far from Okayama. Watch for information in the spring.
