6/2005 Presentation by Eugene Sakai on his visit to Okayama Japan. [click] 3/20/2005 Okayama Committee Chair, Kazuko and Person to Person Exchange Program head, Bob present travel documents to Eugene Sakai, local architect and San Jose Arts Board Member. He brought back pictures of his one week exchange in the City of Okayama. Updated: 4/7/05 First pictures sent from Ms. Nami Harada, International Affairs, Okayama City. [click] 5/11/2004 City of San Jose dedication of the new East Gate of the Japanese Friendship Garden. Citizens of Okayama contributed significant funds to this project as well as the Stern Family and the City of San Jose. The design was contributed by Okayama Architect Namba and was implemented with the kindess of Eugene Sakai, San Jose Architect and City Arts Board Member. The Japanese-American Chamber of Silicon Valley provided for the dedication ceremony and the City Parks and Recreation department provided a reception following. San Jose City Mayor Ron Gonzales, Councilpersons Nora Campos, Forrest Williams and Terry Gregory, the Japanese Consul General from San Francisco, and many City and local dignitaries joined in the celebration. Thanks to everybody!!! [click] 5/11/2004 City of San Jose City Council honors visiting Okayama City Councilpersons and the Okayama Architect Akihiko Namba and the San Jose Archiect Eugene Sakai. The architects were presented with commendations from the City. Coucilperson Nora Campos played a key role in this honorarium. The visiting Okayama delegation gave a greeting speech.
